it's been a while

it's been a while since i have posted art, or anything for that matter, on my blog board. i have personally never been into blogging that much but perhaps i should start. it's a good way to vent, network, or in general a passtime. unfortunately, my "thank you for smoking" piece didnt even make it into the show. i will not deny it, i was very disappointed. but i guess things cant always go everyone's way. atleast i did well in the delta art show. anyways, since school has ended, i have only done one art work. it's a scarface photo of riley from the boondocks. I LOVE THAT SHOW! it was just to pass the time and it's not really my favorite artwork but everyone else seems to like it. i'll post some more sketches over the summer.

these are the photos from the delta sigma theta art of poetry show on monday april 21st. i thought it would be a nice blog to post showing. btw, i won the art competition :-). nice way to end a school year.

art show

unfortunately, i don't have any new artwork to display because we are working on a project that will take 3 weeks to complete, THEN i will post it. until then, i'd like to notify that there will be a Delta Sigma Theta Art of Poetry show held at UTDallas Student Union April 21, 2008 from 7p.m to 9p.m and i will be entering the Thank You for Smoking art piece. this will be like a double whammy for me considering that this is the sorority i really am dying to become a part of and i will be showing off my talent there. hopefully i will have some pictures from the show that i can post on here for you all to see :-)

we worked on contour drawings this saturday. this first picture was supposed to be a quick drawing of someone else in our class. she only gave us 1 minute to complete it though (i think that my drawing could have been a lot better if she had given us more time.

the second picture was another quick sketch of some pottery. i honestly think that this week was a bit boring because we were mainly doing practice drawings but there is nothing wrong with showing off my work :-)

to make up for not posting anything last week, i found another speed painting video on youtube.com. one of the first ones that i have ever seen and which also got me into the whole speed painting thing. when i finally purchase the photoshop program, im going to do create a few of them myself. enjoy! this week in my art class, we learned about perspective. nothing difficult but still relevant to understand. we first drew pictures of boxes stacked on top of each other and sketch them out as practice. we actually did several of these before we had to get to a bigger project.







after several practice perspectives, we had to sketch out our school hallway. (of course we didnt get every single detail of what was in the hall such as statues and lockers). we only had to get the gist of perspective and how to view it.

speedpainting!

well this week i haven't done any artwork this week, besides the fact that it was spring break and i didn't have to attend my art class, but i was extremely busy. just to keep my blog going though, i found a speed painting on youtube.com of my FAVORITE superhero and thought it would be something interesting to display. speed painting is pretty much self explanatory but it's still something nice to observe.

more art for ya

okay, this week we did fruits and veggies in my art class. it was a little harder than i thought it would be. for the first one, we had to completely cover our paper with charcoal and draw with a click eraser. it was hard but i gave it a shot. the other picture was in complete pastel colors. we were supposed to make it look abstract, so not so much shadow and not plenty of detail but in a way artistic. it's not one of my favorites to be honest with you but i thought i'd post it anyway to get some opinions.

well, nothing new. not much to talk about. just a usual busy week. i'm sure something will come up for me to have an interesting topic about. if anything i can show off my artwork. :-)
i take art classes on saturday mornings/afternoons at brookhaven community college in farmers branch, tx. i'll be posting more artwork each week for the rest of the semester. even though i am displaying 2, i have done 4. i will post them up later on. but these two are my favorite ones so far

(smooth jazz is what can really spark my artistic mood)

second life

well, we are doing a "second life" project in my digital imaging class. never heard of it before until i attended utd. quite interesting i might say. i left the chatroom phase YEARS ago but it's a unique social network. of course creating your own characters and entering different worlds.
